You can quickly find volunteer opportunities near you by keyword using the search tool on the main VS page on your Volunteer Center’s Website (and on your myHome page if you have a volunteer account and are logged in). Depending on how your Volunteer Center has configured VS, this quick-search tool may allow you to narrow your search by selecting from pre-set categories of opportunities.
To use the quick-search tool:
On the VS page of your Volunteer Center (if you are not logged into a volunteer account) or your myHome page (if you are), find the search tool at the top (it may be labeled Find a Volunteer Opportunity or something similar).
Type in your ZIP Code and select the distance from your ZIP Code you would like VS to search for opportunities in from the drop-down box.
Type in keywords describing the type or topic of volunteer work you would like to complete (e.g., “youth”, “Saturdays”, “clerical work”), and/or narrow your search using other tabs or drop-down menus provided (these will vary between Volunteer Centers).
Click Go! (or Search!).
View the search results and read the summaries for any opportunities retrieved.
If you are interested in an opportunity, click on the name of the opportunity (or the more link at the end of the summary) to read the full listing and decide if you would like to follow up on it.
